Guidelines for Whisking Matcha Tea

Preparing matcha is centering and calming. Use your favorite utensils, stored in a special place for easy access. This method shows you how to use a bamboo whisk to create a frothy bowl of tea. As always we offer these instructions as guidance and encourage you to experiment with utensils, methods and rations. You do you!

1. Sift the Matcha Powder:
- Start by sifting 1-2 teaspoons of Gotcha Matcha into a tea bowl to remove any clumps and ensure a smooth, lump-free tea.

2.  Add Hot Water:
- Heat water to just below boiling (about 175-185°F or 80-85°C). Pour a small amount (about 2 ounces or 60 ml) into the bowl with the sifted matcha powder.

3. Whisk in a "W" or "M" Motion:
- Using a bamboo whisk (chasen), whisk the matcha and water vigorously in a quick "W" or "M" motion. Start slowly to incorporate the powder, then increase the speed to create a frothy layer on top.

4. Whisk Until Frothy:
- Continue whisking for about 15-30 seconds or until a consistent layer of froth forms on the surface of the matcha. The froth adds a creamy texture and enhances the flavor.

5. Serve Immediately:
- Once the matcha is frothy and well-mixed, drink immediately. Matcha is best consumed fresh, and the vibrant green color and rich flavors are at their peak right after preparation.
